As a good friend and mentor once said "kid...it's flatter than piss on a platter". We called phrases like that a "Skippy'ism".

It is overcast with a stalled front to the North. That means no sun for a thermal. So now we wait...

Friday Report - well after driving all night I faired ok. Lori drove about 3 hrs and we slept in the Florida welcome center for about 1 1/2 hrs. We arrived at the club about 9 am.

Conditions are really good for me. 6 to 8 kts and not too shifty. I am pretty fast upwind but a little sticky downwind. Frustrating to see big guys pass me downwind in those conditions.

So on Friday I had two really good races and one not so good. Considering the amount of sleep I got I am really happy with a 7-4-33. Saturday was more light winds and I felt a little better in the boat. Again my upwind speed was really good. I got some ok starts. I conceded that a front row start was better than being at the favored end but third row. So I stayed away from the ends and tried to keep my nose poked out. Doing this and being a light weight helped me punch out of some tough spots. That and a bit of luck put me in pretty good position after 7 races. My scores for Saturday were 4-2-7-7. In race 6 I was really deep after the start and just slowly ground out chunks of the fleet (put the blinders on...).

Sunday is predicted to be more of the same. So hopefully I can keep my head out of my "you know what". There are some really great sailors here and just being able to sail in their company is a thrill!

Well it looks to really be happening! We are scheduled to leave around
noon on Thursday, Feb 12 and drive through the night to Sarasota. The
Masters MWE is Friday to Sunday at Sarasota Sailing Squadron. Then we
stay a few more days in Sarasota before moving north to Clearwater
Beach for the MWE.  I'll try and do some daily postings via my phone.
